Macbook Air...Compilation!!

Κάμποσα πράγματα παρουσιάστηκαν στην φετινή Macworld Expo με το πιο ενδιαφέρον ίσως το Macbook Air!


Ναι το πιο λεπτό "ultraportable" laptop είναι εδώ και παρουσιάστηκε χθες από τον Steve. Και ultraportable σε εισαγωγικά μιας και δεν έγινε καθόλου μείωση στο μέγεθος του πληκτρολογίου και της οθόνης.

Τα παρακάτω είναι όπως ακριβώς έγιναν στην χθεσινή παρουσίαση από τον Steve...

What is it? Well, as you know, Apple makes the best notebooks on the planet. The MacBook and the MacBook Pro."
"These are the industry standards. Today we're introducing a third -- The MacBook Air."
"What is the MacBook Air? In a sentence, it's the world's thinnest notebook."


10:09am - "What's that mean? Well, we went out and looked at all the thin notebooks -- most people think of the Sony TZ. They're thin. We looked at ALL of them, tried to distill the best of breed. They generally weigh 3 pounds, about 0.8-1.2-inchs thin, wedge shaped, they compromise to get the weight down. Things like the display.

10:10am - an 11 or 12-inch display, they also compromise on the keyboard, they make mini keyboards. They don't run the mas fast as they could. We looked at this and said what do we like? Where can we compromise? The weight's a good target, 3 pounds. But too much compromise to get there.

Less than a full size display, keyboard, and we want to put even more performance in this product. This is that Sony product -- one of the best in the field. This is the macbook Air. 0.76 - 0.16-inches

10:11am - Unprecedented 0.16-inches -- the thickest part of the Air is still thinner than the thinnest part of the TZ series. It's so thin it fits in a manilla envelope. Let me show it to you now.

He pulls out a manilla envelope. Huge applause. ( AYTO ΠΡΕΠΕΙ ΝΑ ΤΟ ΔΩ!!! ΧΑΧΑΧΑ!!! )

10:15am - We've got a very generous trackpad, which is great. We've also built in multi-touch gesture support. We've taken that even further, you'll actually be able to turn on all sorts of new gestures."

"You can double-tap and move the whole window, not just the cursor. When you're in a large photo you can pan around with two fingers. When you want to rotate a photo, just rotate your fingers. We learned in the iPhone and we're putting it in our notebook computers."

"If you want to go between photos, pan right, pan left -- if you want to zoom, pinch in and out. Isn't that great?" Rumbling applause.

INTEL 60% SMALLER!!
10:18am - "We've got a great relationship with Intel -- they're engineering driven, we challenge each other. We said we want the Core 2 Duo, but we need to go to smaller packaging. It sounds easy -- it's not. They invested a lot of engineering to create this for us. The same chip in a package that's 60% smaller -- one of the reasons we can build the MacBook Air. I'd like to say thank you, Intel."

10:19am - "I'd like to invite Otellini on stage..." Paul O gets up there, another appearance. Paul: "About a year ago you challenged us to get the world's best CPU into this machine. When we started this project we didn't think it was possible. What we built for you is the width of a dime, thick as a nickel... it's been a challenge, we sweated over it, and we did what we do best together. Innovate."

Paul gives Steve the chip as a "souvenir." Aw, shucks.


FIRST IMPRESSIONS!!
Βρήκα και τις πρώτες εντυπώσεις για το πως είναι όντως το μηχανάκι...προσφορά του Macrumours.

- It is quite light and thin
- Multi-touch seems to work well (Πραγματικά πολύ καλό!! Άντε να το δουμε και στα Macbook και Macbook Pro)
- Multi-touch acts differently in different apps. Testing in iPhoto, Finder, Safari. In Safari, three-finger swipe caused you to go Back and Forward in browser.
- Mac OS X 10.5.1
- Two DIMM slots While Mac OS reports it as 2 slots, Apple's site indicates that the RAM is soldered to the motherboard.
- 1 USB, 1 micro-DVI, an headphone. In drop-down panel... but does not appear to "collapse"
- Bright Display, Glossy
- Built-in battery is not user accessible
- A USB Ethernet dongle is available for $29
- The Solid State Drive option carries a $999 premium

Και κάποιοι κατακριτές...

Our good buddy Xavier over at notebooks.com got to spend a good half hour with the MacBook Air, and posted his initial thoughts, as well as this video walk through.
During the keynote Steve Jobs kept comparing the MacBook Air to Sony’s TZ series. He didn’t mention that the Sony TZ series has an internal DVD burner and can get up to 12 hours of battery life. Or that you can order the TZ series with a 64GB solid state drive AND a 250GB hard drive. The Sony TZ also has a full compliment of ports and plugs including three USB ports, a FireWire port, ExpressCard slot, Ethernet port and more.”



Overall Xavier was less than impressed, and found that quite a few shortcomings would prevent him from ever recommending the MacBook Air as someone’s primary notebook. That being said, however, he admits he’ll likely pick one up as his secondary machine.

Συμφωνώ με τα παραπάνω. Ας μην ξεχνάμε όμως και την τιμή του Sony TZ 2800δολλάρια. :-) Γαμώτο είναι ακριβά τα ultraportable!

Δική μου άποψη...

Προφανώς και το Macbook Air δεν είναι ένα μηχάνημα για όλους ειδικά αν σκεφτούμε την τιμή του. Φαντάζομαι θα ρθει κοντά στα 1800 ευρώ στην Ελλάδα.
Τεχνικά Χαρακτηριστικά:
Δυνατή CPU και 2GB RAM. Το κλασσικό Χ3100 GPU και Solid State δίσκο.
Υπέροχη, απλά υπέροχη οθόνη. Πανάλαφρο με εκπληκτικό design!
Φωτιζόμενο πληκτρολόγιο και Multitouch Gesture trackpad το κερασάκι στην τούρτα!
Θα μπορούσε να έχει περισσότερη αυτονομία....
Η απουσία DVD δεν με πείραξε. Eξάλλου μάλλον ήταν και περιοριστικός παράγοντας για το μέγεθος. Προσωπικά πλέον τα πάντα τα διακινώ με στικάκια,εξωτερικούς δίσκους και Internet. Την τελευταία φορά που χρησιμοποίησα το DVD ήταν για να βάλω το Leopard πριν 2 μήνες ααα.. και να γράψω ένα Audio-CD του Johnny Cash. :-) Βρήκα πολύ ενδιαφέρον και την "αντικατάσταση του DVD" με το Remote Disk!
Νομίζω με πειράζει πιο πολύ η απουσία κάποιων θυρών και ο μικρός δίσκος λόγω Solid State και με αφήνει αδιάφορο το DVD.
Αν το μηχάνημα ερχόταν σχετικά κοντά στο κόστος του Macbook θα είχα μεγάλο πρόβλημα στην επιλογή μου .
Το Macbook μπορεί να γίνει το κύριο μηχάνημα σου. Το Macbook Air λίγο δύσκολα.
Από την άλλη γιατί μου φαντάζει τόσο ιδανικός ένας συνδυασμός ενός iMac 24'' για το σπίτι και ενός Macbook air για τις μετακινήσεις...?
